Course Content

This course is theoretical and will teach what is required to pass the City & Guilds exam.

There are eight units making up the course relating to Parts 1-7 and the 17 Appendices of BS 7671:2018-18th edition.

·        Scope, object and fundamental principles

·        Definitions

·        Assessment of general characteristics

·        Protection for safety

·        Selection and erection of equipment

·        Inspection and testing

·        Special installations or locations

·        Appendices

These units will be assessed by a multiple choice online exam covering the underpinning knowledge relating to the content and application of BS 7671:2018-18th Edition.

Course Prerequisites

In order to attend the update course you must have completed the 17th Edition with the 3rd amendment. As a guide anyone who as passed since the 1st January 2015 will have done so with the latest amendment and will be eligible to take the 18th Edition update course.

City & Guilds require you to be registered for this course approximately 1 week prior to the exam date. Please make sure you make the Engineering Academy aware of the candidate's name and date of birth at time of booking. You are required to bring a copy of the IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition (BS 7671:2018) (Blue book; ISBN 978-1-78561-170-4).
