Course Content
Further electrical knowledge will be gained through predominantly practical and also theoretical training in the following areas:
- Refresh overview of the foundation course
- Fuse characteristics
- Discrimination and diversity in electrical systems
- Circuit breaker types and characteristics
- Basic capacitance and inductance in electrical circuits and safety issues
- Motor types, construction, characteristics and operation
- Dead fault finding on our 3 phase 400 volt motor pumped system
- Star delta relationships and the need for reduced current starting, auto-transformer starters, resistance starters and soft-start starters
- Investigate electrical interlocking and proximity devices
- Wire a forward and reverse motor control panel, star delta motor starter panel from schematic diagrams
- An introduction into PLC interfacing and control systems
- Fully static and function test at the relevant stages
